Price was a shocker but the quality was well worth it. It’s a small restaurant but has a great flow. Brisket was great, best mac and cheese was awesome with a little spice. Huge chunk of cornbread perfect baked and not too crumbly. The fried okra was really good. Be sure to try the small assortment of unique condiments.

Slow Bone has earned a spot in Texas Monthly Magazine's 2021 The 50 Best BBQ Joints. And deservedly so. This was our 90th 'cue stop in Texas, and a thoroughly enjoyable one. We opted for a quarter pound of fatty brisket, a half pound of jalapeno cheddar sausage, 2 pieces of fried chicken (white meat), 2 pieces of cornbread, two hush puppies, a pint of horseradish potato salad, and a serving of Brussels sprouts au gratin. With the exception of the very dry hush puppies, everything else was on point. The brisket is buttery in texture, with good bark, smoke and flavor, but be warned: the fatty end cuts are roughly 50% fat, which we discarded. The sausage is exquisite, the chicken sensational-- a term that could be equally applied to the potato salad and Brussels sprouts. And what can one say about the cornbread? It is one of the best that we have encountered in Texas, a truly sublime bite! We highly recommend this restaurant, which has seating both inside and out, but severely limited parking. It's best to be there around the opening.

Lunch at Slow Bone in Dallas, TX earlier this week. I have tried this BBQ restaurant several times over the past few years and have seen it as a good option to cure a flavorful BBQ fix.

The location is close to Downtown Dallas just outside of the Design District. It is a convenient lunch spot for those traveling through downtown or working on the South West side that is open every day from 11am-3pm.

My impression from the visit was great, when arriving I saw that the entry of the building was under construction. Once inside several of the unique wall art pieces were removed to repaint for a fresh update and the ordering and portioning process remained the same.

Ordering was simple with a large menu overhead for non displayed meat selections. Ask for something specific and it is pulled from a warmer and sliced and weighed how you order it. All of the sides are on display allowing you to see and select them as you make your way through the process. A plastic lunch tray is used vs the more common metal tray. It works well to separate individual portions.

Brisket- The bark was flavorful and the smoke ring was shallow. I opted for an "in the middle" cut which has the flat and point so lean and moist portions are included. Each bite was moist from being wrapped like it had been submerged slightly in tallow. I also added a slice of the end as well in case the flavor was not as pronounced and it did not disappoint.

Pork rib- Plenty of flavor and light crust on the outside with a consistency from end to end. Half of the meat pulled from the bone easily, the rest was left with just enough pull to require a bite to remove. Sauce was not needed but using their house bbq sauce was perfect. Their additional chimichurri and smoked Sriracha sauces were great accompaniments to use.

Jalapeno cheese sausage- The grind was smooth and the jalapeno pieces were small so the flavors were easier to distinguish. The cheese on the ends was smooth, the middle was slightly cooler but still melted enough.

Banana pudding- The bottom of the cup has a small amount of peanut butter with crushed vanilla wafers on top. The banana pudding has slices of banana and the whip on top was torched to give a light crust and dramatic visual effect. Pulling a bite from top to bottom with all layers was great.

Cornbread- A free piece of cornbread is offered with each plate. The top crust is consistent and slightly sweet with the middle being smooth and slightly moist. This cornbread was one of the best I have had.

Overall, with the slight improved changes since previous visits I will return again.

Nice little BBQ joint. The staff is very friendly and give good advice on what to take.
The pork ribs were really good, great flavor!
Also the sides were tasty, especially the collard greens with a bit of bacon (the bacon does help).

Food was not on par today., given the glowing previous reviews.

Came in at opening time and made a sampler platter of brisket, pork rib and a combo of jalapeno/cheddar and hickory sausages, braised greens.

The brisket was tender and moist but had no bark and literally no smoke to it and was cold.

The pork rib was super mushy with little to no smokiness and tasted cooked, not smoked.

The jalapeno cheddar links were mild to no taste. The hickory links were good.

I liked the braised greens as they were vinegary and cut through the meat fat well.

Will give it another try and update review in case it was an off day.

First off, the Sunday special of pork chop... worth the trip alone. The young lady cutting the meat, carve off a slab ( center cut ) sprinkled house dry seasoning (spg?) And handed off to be browned on the cook top. Delicious!!! We had brisket, ribs and turkey with sides. All were great. The turkey was very moist, my wife prefers it a little dry. The sauce included vinegar. The brisket, superb. We also had the fried chicken... let me tell you, perfect! I would definitely come back. I am anxious to try there special sandwiches!

This was so good I had to leave a review. I ordered 1/4 brisket and a half order of the greens and a half order of the Brussel sprout casserole stuff. Oh my gosh, it was some of the best (if not THE best) brisket I've had, and the sides were delicious too. It was a bit pricey, but they were very generous with the serving sizes. This was my first time to Dallas, and first real Texas BBQ. I don't think anyone could top this! Also, I prefer smoked brisket (with the fat, not lean!) plain, but I did try a little of the BBQ sauce as well, and it was quite unique and good as well. If you enjoy smoked meat this place will definitely not disappoint!

This stop was a recommendation from a friend of mine because he said we HAD to try the fried chicken and boy, was he right!! I have avoided fried chicken for years because it's usually greasy but not at Slow Bone! It was incredibly crunchy, juicy and not greasy at all. I paired it with the sweet potato praline crunch side and it was heavenly ?! And since the brisket looked so good on the cutting board, I went back and ordered a second meal. The brisket was so flavorful and as soft as butter! That came with the cornbread which, no surprise, was amazing! My buddy hooked me up with Slow Bone and now you all know as well ?. Enjoy!
