Not What It Use To Be.

My wife and I have been coming to Ameristar for 12 years. 12 years ago it had a very Grand feel about it. The rooms were always professionally kept. The Service staff was very professional, and the restaurant was just as professional.
We recent stayed for a Saturday to Sunday stay and ate at the Fireside Grill. We were greeted by the hostess who asked how many, and when I told her 8 people she decided I wasn't telling the truth and verbally counted the party to confirm. Just call me a liar or don't ask the question to begin with.
We stayed the night and we were awoken by the Housekeeping manager (Sunday Morning) who had the audacity to open our room door and announce House Keeping! When we informed her at 8:43am that we were still sleeping (check out is at 11am), she stated that we needed to hang a Do Not Disturb sign on our door! Are you kidding me!?
My last complaint is how dated the rooms have become, and the fact that we paid $300 per room, and the soap was out in the shower the following morning.

It's time for a change.

There's a brand new location down the street called the Monarch, or go across the street to the Lodge.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a Penn entertainment comp. We booked the luxury king city view and got a room on floor 31. The view was great and room was clean although a bit dated.

If you are an elite member you get a quarterly spa offer. That was a great perk and I got a massage while I was there ($190 for 50 min) which was covered in my offer. The spa pass itself is not worth the $ due to limited amenities but it is included in a paid massage or nail service.

The casino itself is not my favorite. A lot of the popular games are missing or there aren’t many of them (Frankenstein, huff and puff money mansions, lightning Buffalo link, pai gow). The machines that are there are tough on payouts. I generally do 1000 tier credits a day ($5k coin in) and really struggled to get any action here (machines were just taking $. No bonuses, no line hits).

Stay here for the getaway in the mountains but don’t come if you’re planning on heavy play. Also, black hawk is quite far out from Denver along back windy roads so if you plan on going out late, be careful on the drive in.

The rooftop hot tub is fantastic!! The rooms are nice and the location is great! They have a good selection of slot machines and good restaurants to try out! Timberline Grill has delicious steak and duck fat fries! Fireside Kitchen has delicious sweet potato fries!

John and Jess at the Hotel Front Desk were super helpful and kind. I really appreciate Johns assistance with check in and answering all my questions. Jess was extremely helpful with getting some additional amenities for our room. ||The Buffett had amazing food, the rooms are very comfortable, the bathtub in the room was amazing! Everything was super clean. ||Very excited for another visit in the future.

This is a great location up in the mountains, a great drive scenic route to get there. Now going inside this, place. It's a great atmosphere with new slots, card games, hotel, spa, and amenities
I will be coming back soon. I am always so close to getting a hand pay.But one of these days I will get one. You won this round hahaha

Absolutely wonderful, refreshing experience after a very long drive. The staff was very welcoming, the room was very nice and clean. The outdoor hot tub between 2 fire pits on the roof was amazing! 10 out of 5 stars.

The deep tub was so satisfying I didn't want to come home. I was so happy to soak my entire body with lots of bubbles. The rooms are so spacious, and the views looking out on the mountains was very crucial for my retreat. It helped me relax my mind and spirit. Thank you amerista.
